Because just as the great teachers of all religions and
philosophies felt that "Peace is the way", so do we.
No real peace can ever be attained by using the same methods
as one at war.
True Peace can only be attained through understanding that we are
all brothers and sisters, that the only way we can live together is
by understanding each others differences and accepting them. We
don't necessarily have to agree with them, but we need to accept
them.
In this acceptance comes a spark of realization that co-existence
is possible. Eventually, as each of us is allowed the latitude to be
who we are in our own way, our differences do not seem as great. and
our similarities seem to grow.
In order for this to work, we must trust each person, each nation
to their own path to find their way, and offer support when asked.
We have a lot to learn about each other, a lot of growing to do, and
a lot issues to work out.
The time is here and now to start a non-violent dialogue at the
grass roots, and really at all levels, to heal the wounds of the
past and start on the path of peace.
