Practitioner’s Corner October 2008
Ernest Holmes, in the SOM textbook, writes:
“Science of Mind is not a ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme,
neither does it promise something for nothing. It does, however,
promise the one who will comply with its teachings that he shall be
able to bring greater possibilities and happier conditions into his
experience.”
So the question could be asked: How do I make my
life better?
First, we change our beliefs and begin to believe
in a loving Universe, one that has reason, one that would not punish
needlessly.
Believe in a Universe that will challenge us as a
mother does when she teaches her beloved child to take his first
teetering steps, accepting that the child may fall many times before
he masters walking. She knows that the end result - mobility - is a
reward worth a few skinned knees.
So what can we do to get what we want?
Focus on what you want and NOT on what you don’t
want. Focus on it 100%. Answer these questions daily: What do you
need to do to get what you want and what will it feel like to have
it? Imagine having it daily.
Realize that if you want to walk out of the room,
you don’t sit there and simply wish you were somewhere else. Get up
and take your first step. Eliminate any doubt of success. Know that
you are leaving the room and take another step. Know that life IS
taking another step, and take another step. Focus on the joy of each
step. Focus on your goal. The joy is found in the journey.
Expect it to be easy. Expect it to be joyful.
Expect it to enrich your life. Expect help around every corner.
Expect guidance from some mysterious source. Know you are succeeding
with every step.
Success is assured. Allow yourself then to think,
“when I get through this door, I want to...”.
And so it is.
