The Ubiquity of Spirit
Throughout the ages writers, sages and other
learned men and women have spoken and written about the
omnipresence, omniscience, omnipotence of God. Since the descriptor
God, Dios, Allah etc. has, to the senses of some, a less than
positive connotation I am choosing to call that Power: Spirit, for
it seems less semantically loaded.
Recently, I was contemplating the coffee table in
my office where I see clients. Beside the stacks of books on
everything from Buddhist psychology to the anthropological
development of Andean musical instruments, there sits a Buddha,
gifted from a grateful client, with such a serene smile. His
captivating smile surveys the table and the room and was the
catalyst to take notice that everything in the room both animate and
inanimate is Spirit essence. Each piece, from the magnificent
orchids and violets to the miniature bird water flutes are all
manifestations of Spirit. They merely are differing forms of that
Spirit expression. The chairs, the cushions, the flowers in the
vases, the couch no longer were objects in my life; their true
Spirit nature shone forth. They were each Spirit in differing form
with differing but specific functions and applications.
Look up from what you are reading!! Survey your
surroundings, wherever you are. Notice whatever you notice and
recognize the Spirit essence of what you are observing. Everything
inanimate in your surroundings was once merely an idea in the mind
of its creator. The animate were also an idea in the Mind of their
Creator. Our sensory experience differentiates them; but, in their
essence they are all Spirit. This is omnipresence in vivo. You have
just realized Spirit is ever present. You are not alone. You are
NEVER alone for Spirit is always within and without. It is
everywhere present. So, you and I are connected to Spirit at all
times. There is never a time when Spirit is not with you and with
me.
What a powerful knowing to bring into your life.
Every time circumstances bring forth something undesired; we now
know, that despite appearances, Spirit is ever present in
everything and at every moment in time..
If everything around me is an expression of Spirit
then each object knows what to do. The chair knows to support me;
the table knows to support what is put on it; the water flute knows
to make the sounds it makes when filled with water and air is forced
through it; the orchid knows when to bloom and for how long. So, I
too know what to do when I tune into my essence. I am essentially no
different from you and you too have this knowing. You merely need to
access it remembering your Spirit essence. This individual knowing
is the omniscience of Spirit.
Spirit created it ALL. From the most minute to the
most gigantic. From the very simple to the most complex. Each bit or
amalgam of bits is awe inspiring if you contemplate it. Can you just
stop and imagine the power that exists in this capacity to create
and to endlessly continue to create. This, then, is the omnipotence
of Spirit.
So there you have the magnificent “trio of omni's”
all at your beck and call. They each come wrapped in the mellifluous
fabric of LOVE. They are yours for the asking.
What else do you need to live a life of
munificence? The Ubiquity of Spirit makes it all possible. Go ahead
tap into it!!
